Biography
Johndeep was born in Walsall (West Midlands)
From a young age, music and drama had always been a part of Johndeep’s life, although it remained in the background until he left school and went to University to read English and Contemporary Drama in West London. He soon realised that sitting in a lecture five times a week was not for him, and discovering Music thankfully was!
Upon graduating from Brunel University, Johndeep won a scholarship and a place at the Royal Academy of Music in London on the Postgraduate Musical Theatre course. Whilst at the Academy, Johndeep took part in many shows directed by practitioners internally and externally and won the Ronald William White prize for “Excellence in Acting Through Song” and the “Mary Hammond Master-Class Award 2005”.
Since his time at the Academy, Johndeep has been a quarter-finalist in BBC Radio 2’s Voice of Musical Theatre and become an active member of the British Gospel Arts Workshop Choir in conjunction with the London Community Gospel Choir, which has led him to perform at the Birmingham Symphony Hall and record solo on an album for Universal/Decca Records. More recently he made it to the live finals from over 10,000 applicants for BBC One on “Any Dream Will Do” – the search for the West End’s new Joseph.
Other work has included playing Dandini in “Cinderella” at the Theatre Royal, Windsor, recording on the album “Dream On” (Bill Kenwright/ABSOLUTEMD label) and performing at various concerts/cabarets in/around London.
